The Project
We recently completed this fantastic project which involved a Youth Development Strategy which delivered youth and community development through regular physical activity and community programs. Youth organised activities in partnership with CCC staff that aimed to bring community together and provide healthier lifestyle choices.
Installing a Half-Court Basketball court as part of this project added greatly to available activities and allows for greater community harmony and engagement.
Capacity Building, Physical and Mental Wellbeing and Resilience all formed part of this strategy.

Youth & Community
Development
This component involved various activities throughout the project such as:
-
4-week blocks of afterschool activities
-
School Holiday Community Events
-
Youth Leadership committee
-
Skill development for selected youth leaders through Basketball basic coaching & 3x3 Community Hustle training which was provided by NSW Basketball Asssociation
-
Volunteer experience in assisting with Basketball activities and school holiday events for the youth leaders
Installation of Half-Court
Basketball Court
This component involved the installation of a Half-Court Basketball Court in Gossamer Park. Leeton Shire Council were a strong community partner throughout the project and together we were able to create a fantastic recreational asset for the community. Leeton Basketball Association and Parkview Primary School came on board and assisted with a 3x3 community hustle competition for the youth of Wattle Hill once the build was complete. A grand opening of the court was held which incorporated cultural performances from local group, community elder giving welcome to country in native tongue, representative from Leeton Basketball Association and Leeton Shire Council. It was fantastic celeberation for the community.
